Calvert Reconnections announces Top Team!
Calvert Reconnections – the UK’s first intensive acquired brain injury (ABI) rehabilitation centre to combine traditional interdisciplinary clinical therapies with physical activity in the outdoors – has reached another key milestone with the appointment of Jill Beswick as Clinical Lead and Jo Glenholmes as Business Manager.
Jill Beswick qualified as an occupational therapist in 1990 and has worked across the specialities of adult rehabilitation both inpatient and community, always with a passion for neurological rehabilitation.
She developed the occupational therapy and physiotherapy service for the Accident and Emergency department at Whiston Hospital, St. Helens and Knowsley in the late 1990’s before moving to Shetland and developing a new Intermediate Care Team and community rehabilitation service.
Jill has promoted the role of rehabilitation services through presentations at national events, training for specialist groups and at the Scottish Parliament. She has also formed strong connections with voluntary groups and universities.
Commenting on her decision to join Calvert Reconnections, Jill said:
“This is a hugely exciting opportunity to deliver clinical therapies alongside experienced activity instructors utilising challenging outdoor activities to support individuals in their recovery from brain injury.
“I am looking forward to combining my passion for neurological rehabilitation with my love of the outdoors to ensure people receive unique, life-changing rehabilitation.”
Jo Glenholmes is a registered nurse with a background in neuropsychology and complex case management. She set up a successful community-based ABI/Neurological support service in Cumbria and for the last 8 years has worked with the Cumbria Community ABI team to improve outcomes and service delivery for individuals with ABI and other neurological conditions.
Following the success of her community-based service, Jo took on the role of ABI/Neurological Specialist Lead in order to provide expert advice, tools and training to organisations, charities and providers throughout the UK.
Jo has also worked for the Care Quality Commission Inspectorate and the NHS, case managing and delivering complex care for individuals with significant cognitive and physical difficulties.
Commenting on her role as Business Manager at Calvert Reconnections, Jo, who recently completed a MSc in nursing care/rehabilitation for individuals with ABI said:
“I am thrilled to be taking on the role of Business Manager at Calvert Reconnections.
“Led by an interdisciplinary team, our six-month programmes will transform lives – delivering specialist support, developing life skills, providing vocational opportunities and encouraging outdoor adventure.”
Said Sean Day, Centre Director at Calvert Reconnections:
“Jill and Jo are outstanding additions to the Calvert Reconnections team.
“With decades of experience and wide-ranging expertise, they are leaders in their field.”
