“We can’t wait to welcome our first participants” says Head of Service, Claire Appleton

With the final countdown to Calvert Reconnections’ opening well underway, Head of Service Claire Appleton says “the whole team is raring to go”.

Speaking at a Zoom event for case managers and solicitors to mark the centre’s opening on 21 June 2021, an upbeat Claire explained how she is “excited and privileged” to be part of Reconnections’ ground-breaking new service.

An Occupational Therapist, Claire has extensive experience of long-term neurological conditions, having spent the last 20 years with the NHS.

“I developed a passion for ABI and stroke rehabilitation at an early stage in my career,” explained Claire, who has worked in both acute and community-based settings.  “I’ve always had a strong interest in the cognitive and executive rehabilitation side.”

For the last five years, Claire has worked in a management and leadership role within the NHS, where she’s driven forward the development of new services.

“With my ABI knowledge, leadership experience, passion for the outdoors and track record in developing new services, Calvert Reconnections is a natural fit,” she added.

“It is hugely exciting to look at the different opportunities we can establish with cognitive and executive function utilising so many different rehabilitation models and facilities.

“Our focus is on ensuring Reconnections’ highly-skilled team can reach its potential for our participants.  We are committed to delivering a ground-breaking, specialist, 24-hour rehabilitation service.”

Concluded Claire:

“Every single member of the team has an important part to play in the delivery of our new rehabilitation service. We can’t wait to welcome our first participants.”
