Our Staff Team

Here’s a quick introduction to our staff Team.

Rob S

Rehab Coach

Rob has joined the Reconnections team after 10 years working in outdoor training and development in the UK, the European Alps, the Middle East and beyond.

Multi-day expeditions and canyon descents are his passion, although he has on occasion been sighted in a canoe.

When he’s not in the mountains, he can usually be found drinking coffee, spending time with his dog, or planning the next international travelling adventure.

Emily

Occupational Therapist

Emily is a Junior Occupational Therapist at Calvert Reconnections. Having grown up in the Lake District, she has always appreciated the beauty of this area.

A strong believer that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the benefits that outdoor activities can have on physical and mental heath, Emily is proud to be part of the team facilitating rehabilitation at Calvert Reconnections.

In her spare time, Emily loves exploring the mountains with her dog Poppy.

John

Rehab Coach

John has recently joined our team from the North East having previously worked as an activity instructor for Calvert Trust Kielder and for the past year as an occupational therapist in a hospital. 

John can be found out and about in a pair of shorts and enjoys a number of outdoor hobbies from climbing to jumping into lakes.

Pete

Rehab Coach

Pete is a Rehabilitation Coach at Calvert Reconnections, having worked in the outdoor industry for several years, his passion for the outdoors began when he went travelling in Canada.

Pete enjoys several outdoor hobbies including, climbing, mountaineering and kayaking. when he is not outdoors he enjoys video games, movies and board games with friends.

Steff

Rehab Coach

Steff is a massive outdoor enthusiast with a passion for being out in the mountains accompanied by her dog Flynn.

She is a positive person who always sees the best side to any situation she is faced with. Steff enjoys yoga and being out on her bike.

Normally found singing or awkward dancing, and never without a smile on her face!

A good cup of tea is the way to her heart.

Alex

Rehab Coach

Alex feels that everyone should have the right to play freely in Wild Nature. He especially values the joy found in being in nature, journeying through a landscape by simple means finding pleasure and harmony with surroundings, and doing something meaningful.

He has over 10 years experience working in a variety of roles within the outdoor sector and has also completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. He looks forward to each and every adventure.

His happiest place is either riding woodland single-track on a mountain bike, skiing a lofty peak or making coffee on a campfire.

Paul

Maintenance Co-ordinator

Paul has worked in the hospitality industry for several years before joining the Reconnections team.

His local knowledge of hotels (and pubs) is pretty good, and he always suggests somewhere to go, be it walking, climbing or kayaking.

Kris

Rehab Coach

A former competitive slalom kayaker in his youth, Kris’ love for the outdoors started at a young age. He has 5 years’ experience working in residential outdoors centres and sharing his love for the outdoors with others.

He is a keen hillwalker and underground explorer, and you will probably find him on, or in, a mountain, and as a lover of live music, you are just as likely to find him watching his favourite band play.

George

Rehab Coach

George comes to the team with over eighteen years of working and studying in the outdoor sector. Passionate, thoughtful and collaborative, he brings a huge range of skills with previous roles including instructing at the Calvert Trust, senior tutoring in field studies, and a range of other environmental and adventurous activities.

George studied geology and then outdoor education at university, and brings enthusiasm for discovering the outdoors through exploration and reflection. George loves spending time outdoors with his family and also enjoys cooking and baking. He hopes to bring this wide range of interests to the life of the Reconnections service.

Hannah

Speech & Language Therapist

Hannah can often be found on the fells, climbing, running or paddle boarding on a lake.

She has built her own campervan with her husband (and dog) for adventures in Switzerland, Scotland and all around Europe. Hobbies include making furniture from pallets, breaking pallets and anything that is stored on a pallet.

Rob M

Development Officer

Supporting with work in the office and beyond, Rob has over 10 years experience in the outdoors and has his own unique ABI story after having a stroke at 29 years old.

Fuelled by biscuits, he is enthusiastic about all aspects of the outdoors, plays for the local hockey team, enjoys canyoneering and is a keen gamer when not out and about with his springer spaniel.

Claire

Head Of Service

Claire has always appreciated where she lives, enjoying the outdoor lifestyle.

Claire lives in Penrith with her family, as a family Claire enjoys playing and watching many sports and watching the boys play football at weekends. Any spare time between work and football commitments Claire enjoys spending family time in the Lakes, fell walking, kayaking and paddle boarding.
